It has been one of my great pleasures to teach.  It all started when I decided to give watercolor lessons in 1970. We lived six miles from town on a farm.  We had one car and my husband, took that to work.  The children were all in school, so I was all by myself, being a house wife.

I thought many women were in my position, doing repetitive tasks with no product, no reward. One ability I did have, I could paint. And just maybe, I could teach others to paint.

At that time, watercolor was not as popular as it is today. It was thought as a sketch medium, impermanent and difficult to do. There was only one other teacher in the area. There were no galleries, no exhibits at this time period.  This has all changed.

At this time, it was rather a novel idea; to teach, to take lessons in watercolor. I began teaching in a studio attached to our house. Five to six students for ten weekly sessions spring and fall. Over time my classes grew. My students framed their work and entered exhibit. It was very gratifying to see the students pride, innovative spirit and accomplishments grow.

I continue to teach today at Heron Point on a limited basis. In my classes, I teach watercolor, printmaking and drawing.
